Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes if possible. Some patients like to change into shorts or gym gear.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No! Although we get referrals from GP practices it is not necessary. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners. They are trained to identify if you need to referred for further investigations. For example, we occasionally refer people to their doctor because it is apparent their back pain is actually caused by a kidney problem.
Is osteopathy just for back pain?
Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions that include back and neck pain, peripheral joint pain, trapped nerves, repetitive strain, headaches, sporting injuries, arthritic pain, and many other conditions. If you'd like to discuss whether osteopathy can help you please call us on 07544 856 334 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What happens if I cannot attend my appointment?
If you need to cancel an appointment we respectfully request that you give us 24 hours notice so the appointment can be offered to someone else. Failure to do so, unless there are unforeseeable circumstances, will result in full price of the appointment being charged.
How many treatments will I need?
During your initial consultation your osteopath will discuss your treatment plan and how many treatments are likely to be required. They will constantly reassess and update according to your progress and how you feel.
What training has an osteopath had?
Our osteopaths have undertaken five years comprehensive training. They are fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
