Went to Shane at Leyton Osteopaths for long-standing issues around hip mobility, brought on by years of running and playing football, and not stretching properly. He listened carefully and explored various possible causes in the muscles around my hips, legs and back. He identified the problem areas, and then worked with them and gave me exercises for home. Hips felt great after the sessions which, along with the exercises, are improving my range of motion and helping me do squats properly for the first time ever. Highly recommended.

Your Appointment with Leyton Osteopaths
At your first appointment your osteopath will take a detailed case history. Here you will fully explain your pain and injury, let us know about any health conditions you have and anything else you feel is important.

When your osteopath has completed their examinations they will discuss with you what's happening and give you the opportunity to ask questions. They will explain everything they're doing and answer any further questions you might have.

Shane helped me tremendously, really eased off the pain I was in and gave me lots of very effective exercises for me to manage my issues. I cannot recommend him enough.

Does Osteopathy Hurt?
If you are in Leyton or Stratford and haven't tried osteopathy yet because you're afraid it will hurt, we'd strongly recommend putting your worries aside and giving us a visit. A small minority of people feel a little achey after treatment but most people don't even feel that. There are some techniques that are a little more forceful but we are selective in how we use them and would only ever do so with your consent.

What should I bring to my osteopathy appointment?
Just yourself. Having comfortable loose fitting clothing is helpful but not essential.

I went to Leyton Osteopaths with a very painful lower back. After a careful assessment Shane gave me exercises to do and ways of managing the discomfort. He has a calm reassuring manner. I am much improved.

I would highly recommend Shane Morris at Leyton Osteopaths. I visited him due to low back pain. He listened to me carefully, diagnosed my problem and gave me exercises to help heal. I recovered in a very short time period after doing these exercises. He also followed up after our session to ensure I was getting better.

Osteopathy, Physiotherapy or Chiropractic?
Osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors often treat similar types of conditions. So, if you are in Leytonstone with back pain or in Leyton with neck pain you have options when it comes to your treatment; the key is to find the right therapist for you.

Osteopathy take a ‘holistic’ approach, often treating related areas away from the site of injury. We also assess ongoing postural and mechanical problems people have and how these may be feeding into the problem. Factors such as lifestyle, job and exercise are considered and incorporated into the treatment plan.

Osteopathy treatments are typically 30 - 45 minutes and involve soft-tissue massage and joint articulation & manipulation.

Physiotherapists traditionally work with injuries and rehabilitation, mainly dealing with muscles and ligaments. Treatments combine ‘hands-on’ muscle manipulation work with the use of technical equipment (such as ultrasound), plus exercise prescription.

Chiropractors focus their treatment mostly on the spine. A chiropractor uses manipulation, or to use their terminology, 'chiropractic adjustment' as their main treatment modality. An appointment with a chiropractor is typically shorter than an osteopathy or physiotherapy appointment.

Leyton Osteopaths shares its premises with a Physiotherapy practice called 'Physio-Answers' and the two therapies often complement each other well.

Shane is the first Osteopath I have used and I am finding it fantastic. Only seen him twice and already moving a lot more freely. Great bedside manner. Highly recommended.
